New TPR PhD: Katrien Storms

On 7 February, Katrien Storms successfully defended her PhD on the topic of 'Unravelling D&D within the maritime ecosystem and its influence on the use of IWT in port-hinterland supply chains'. The PhD was funded by the Chair Dennie Lockefeer.

Dennie Lockefeer Chair hosted 5th public lecture

On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the Dennie Lockefeer Chair hosted the free-of-charge hybrid lecture "Transport Mode Decisions in Intermodal Supply Chains: Determining Factors." We were delighted to welcome over 200 participants from 50+ countries!

TPR hosted 3rd Hamburg Winter School

TRP hosted the 3rd Winter School on ‘Transport & Logistics’ in Hamburg. Together with 15 FBE students, we dived into the maritime, transport, and logistics ecosystem of this dynamic city. Were up: sessions with Hapag-Lloyd AG, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, HafenCity Hamburg GmbH exploration, a Hamburg port boat tour, a visit to C. Steinweg (Süd-West Terminal), and a visit to Lufthansa Technik. An insightful week of learning and exploring!

TPR hosted 1st Pharma Logistics Winter School

TPR held its first-ever Pharma Logistics Winter University, in Abu Dhabi, a global hub for healthcare and life sciences. In collaboration with Pharma.Aero, Department of Health Abu Dhabi, Etihad and Khalifa University, we welcomed participants from around the world to the UAE’s capital for five days of knowledge-sharing.

TPR hosted REFOCUS Winter School

TPR hosted a winter school on Sustainable Transport, Shipping and Logistics designed to empower students with necessary skills and expertise in the fast-changing transport, shipping, and logistics industries. The program covered critical topics such as sustainability, resilience, big data analytics, climate neutrality, safety, collaboration strategies, and port innovation.

TPR welcomed Universal Postal Union

On 31 January, TPR had the honour of welcoming Universal Postal Union Director General Masahiko Metoki, bpost group CEO Chris Peeters, and representatives from BIPT - IBPT. TPR researchers presented the preliminary results of a study as part of the UPU - University of Antwerp research fellowship.
