Welcome to Kate Reilly at USI

The Urban Studies Institute is glad to welcome Kate Reilly, who will join Inneke Baatsen as research manager. Kate's background is in ecology and water resources management, with an interdisciplinary focus. She holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. from McGill University in Canada and a BSc. (Hons.) from the University of Edinburgh, UK. She has developed her interest in urban topics through her recent work with urban nature and green space for climate change adaptation, health and wellbeing and other benefits. She looks forward to continuing to deepen and expand her knowledge while working with the Urban Studies Institute.

10 ESR vacancies for TOD-IS-RUR

The Innovative Training Network TOD-IS-RUR will make significant research contributions to the scientific and societal challenge of countering sprawl in Europe. It creates a unique international platform for 10 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs), providing training to analyze rural-urban place-making and develop novel, context-based planning schemes for rural-urban regions (RURs). Applying for the vacancies is possible until 29 March 2021.

15 ESR vacancies for SOLiDi

The EU-funded SOLiDi project's goal is to promote solidarities across ethnic-cultural boundaries. It has developed a program to train 15 early-stage researchers. They will study how scientific insights on solidarity in diversity can be applied in different policy contexts and organisations. Ultimately, the project will provide professionals and institutions with insights and instruments for building cohesive European societies.

Virtual expo Future Urban Health

Over the past year, scientists from the Design Science Hub have been working from their Blue Sky Studio on the question: "What if the city could make us healthier?" Through a multidisciplinary approach, this thinking resulted in the exciting virtual exhibition Future Urban Health.
