Public lecture Chair Dennie Lockefeer

On 20 January 2021, the Chair Dennie Lockefeer will host an online public lecture on the topic 'Adequate data, a key step that will benefit inland shipping'. Academic and business contributions will be combined with a panel discussion. Joining is free of charge but only after registration.

Based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO), ten COVID19 vaccines are currently in phase 3  clinical trials. There are five European and American candidates, four Chinese candidates and one Russian candidate. The difference in approach to vaccine development is striking, indicate Wouter Dewulf and Roel Gevaers.

Joris Beckers wins Mercator-Ortelius Prize

The University of Antwerp is proud to announce the winners of the Mercator-Ortelius Prize 2020: Joris Beckers and Arnaud Adam. Every three years,  a doctoral thesis in the field of economic geography, regional economics, regional planning or urban economics is awarded with the prize.

Third eHubs Newsletter

The eHUBS project is now halfway and is proud to present the first eHUBS on the streets of Nijmegen, Arnhem and Leuven. The other pilot cities (Amsterdam, Manchester, Dreux and Kempten) will follow soon in spring 2021. All partners have worked hard to achieve this result, and despite the complications brought by COVID, the project is progressing well.

Lief Bleyen started working as a guest lecturer at TPR. Lief has a background in transport law and works as a legal counsel. At TPR, she now teaches Shipping Law and Shipping Law Cases.

The Chair Dennie Lockefeer welcomed Katrien Storms as the second holder of the Dennie Lockefeer Chair. She continues to look for inland container shipping solutions. Improving and optimizing inland shipping remains the main objective of the research.
